In the past weeks The KosiBay News reported that Kaizer Chiefs remain interested in Golden Arrows attacker Pule Mmodi, the Golden Arrows talisman linked to the club during the most recent transfer window although he did not make a move.
There have been some developments elsewhere….
AmaZulu Fc are believed to have joined the race for the attacking midfielder and are said to have made a last minute enquiry over Golden Arrows willingness to sell on 22 September, the deadline for the registration period.
It’s likely their KwaZulu-Natal rivals would have entertained the offer had it come sooner as it was widely speculated that Golden Arrows were open to allow Pule Mmodi to leave because he’d been vocal about his wish to join Kaizer Chiefs.
Infact in his interview in this week’s edition with a close source, co-coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi confirms as much.
But with Pule Mmodi back to his best and among the in-form players at the moment as the club’s top goal scorer so far this season, such a last minute bid would have crippled Abafana Bes’thende when their star man was regaining his touch again.
The KosiBay News understands there is no new proposal for a new contract extension for Pule Mmodi and indications are that he could leave a free agent in june next year when his initial agreement with the club( Golden Arrows) comes to an end.
The KosiBay has been informed that both Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu could attempt to sign Pule Mmodi in January, which would suit Abafana Bes’thende financially as they stand to get him off their books for a cut price fee instead of losing the player on a free.
As it stands, it appears as though the Soweto giants and Usuthu are the only two sides likely to tussle for his signature, but don’t be surprised if more suitors show interest in the coming months.
