Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly abandoned their pursuit of Bosnia and Herzegovina defender Djordje Cosic.

Cosic is presently signed with Bosnia and Herzegovina champions FK Borac Banja Luka. Whom he has already participated in UEFA Champions League qualifying. He has been linked with a move to the PSL with Kaizer Chiefs.

KAIZER CHIEFS WITHDRAW INTEREST IN COSIC

The 25-year-old is a tall left-footed defender who can play fullback and central defense. Kaizer Chiefs have declined to become Cosic’s first club outside of his birthplace. He is a first-team regular with Borac Banja Luka, appearing 31 times in their successful 2020/21 season. He has played in the Champions League and Europa League.

Kaizer Chiefs allegedly made contact with the club to negotiate a prospective transfer deal for the talented defender, even going so far as to discuss the financial implications of moving him to Naturena.

Kaizer Chiefs’ interest in Cosic appears to have waned when the Soweto Giants won the contract of Swallows’ Njabulo Ngcobo, after previously agreeing to sign Bafana Bafana defender Sifiso Hlanti.

Cosic would provide versatility at the back for Chiefs, the club already has Mathoho, Cardoso, Siyabonga Ngezana, and now Ngcobo. Yagan Sasman, Philani Zulu, Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya, and Hlanti will compete for the left back position.

During the transfer window, Kaizer Chiefs were interested in a number of naturally left-footed players. Identifying this as an area in which they could improve, and they even trialed Sao Tome and Principe international Jardel Nazare, even going so far as to give him a medical, but the dismissal of Gavin Hunt appeared to derail that deal, and it appears Stuart is no longer interested.
