Kaizer Chiefs have issued a statement in response to rumours that the club is poised to split ways with Philani Zulu, Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya, and Yagan Sasman.

After adding new stars during the current transfer window, the Soweto giants are anticipated to unload players.

The three left-backs have allegedly been considered surplus to requirements at the Naturena-based giants ahead of the 2021/22 season.

This comes after Amakhosi signed two left-backs on free transfers, Sibusiso Mabiliso and Sfiso Hlanti, from AmaZulu FC and Swallows FC, respectively.

Following the team’s 3-0 loss to Al Ahly in the Caf Champions League final in Morocco on Saturday, Chiefs confirmed the acquisition of Richards Bay defender Austin Dube, who can also play as a left-back, on Tuesday.

In response to the trio’s rumored leaving, Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung stated that they still have a month to iron out player contractual issues.

“We were still in Morocco, and we will give the players some time off to rest,” Motaung said to the Daily Sun on Tuesday afternoon.

“When we return, we’ll start talking about those concerns. We’ll make a statement once we’ve completed everything.”

Sasman and Ntiya-Ntiya each played three PSL matches in the 2020/21 season, with Philani Zulu favored ahead of them.

Ntiya-Ntiya was developed at the Chiefs program before being promoted to the first team by then-Amakhosi coach Ernst Middendorp in January 2018.

Sasman joined the Glamour Boys from Ajax Cape Town (now Cape Town Spurs) for the 2019/20 season.

Philani Zulu appeared in 24 league matches last season, however he was occasionally benched in favor of Reeve Frosler, who played as a left-back or left wing-back for the Soweto giants.

He has been at Amakhosi since July 2017, after joining the club from Maritzburg United.
