Kaizer Chiefs are said to have bagged yet another signing as the Glamour Boys continue to take advantage of the FIFA ban being lifted.
According to Siya sources familiar with Naturena player transactions, indications are that Chiefs and Richards Bay have agreed to sell defender Austin Dube, who is now with Bafana Bafana in the COSAFA Cup.
The Chiefs are said to have been watching the player for some months, waiting for the ban on signing new recruits to be lifted at the start of July.
Dube, 28, has been a standout player in the GladAfrica Championship for Richards Bay, and was a member of the team that stunned his soon-to-be new employers in the Nedbank Cup second round in February.
There has been no official word from The Village about new players, with insiders telling the Siya crew that management wants the team to focus entirely on the CAF Champions League final on July 17, which is undoubtedly their most important assignment to date.
Amakhosi will face Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly in Morocco, and only then will official news about those departing and joining the club be made.
Kaizer Chiefs are reported to be in Limpopo preparing for the major showdown, with some of their recruits joining them, but not all.
After that, Dube is anticipated to report for duty with the national squad after the end of the COSAFA Cup, which is presently taking place in Gqeberha.
