Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has shared his thoughts on Kermit Erasmus’ blockbuster move from Mamelodi Sundowns to Orlando Pirates.
The 32-year-old striker penned a two-year deal with the Sea Robbers whom he left in 2016 to join French club Stade Rennais FC.
Since taking over as South Africa coach in 2021, Broos has never called on Erasmus.
‘Romeo’ has 20 appearances for Bafana Bafana and will be hoping to impress Broos should he get regular game time at his new club.
The Belgian mentor says what’s important for him is that Erasmus plays, meaning he would be able to monitor him.
HUGO BROOS ON KERMIT ERASMUS’ MOVE
“For me, the most important thing is that whatever he changed or whoever he changed [to] is that he plays,” he told media as quoted by iDiski Times.
“This is the most important. I have no problem that someone from Sundowns goes to Pirates or from Pirates goes to SuperSport, or whatever. This is not important for me.
“But when he changed, I hope he’ll play. That’s the most important thing.
“Again, I can’t do anything about that. If he changed and he doesn’t play that’s worse for the player himself and maybe I will be on some on some occasions in trouble because my players don’t play, the I have to look for something else again.
“But what can I do? I just see and I look and I hope that it doesn’t happen too much.”
