Samir Nurkovic, a striker for Royal AM, believes it is “sad” that at Kaizer Chiefs he was plagued by numerous injuries because he wanted to contribute more to the team.
Despite the fact that ailments prevented him from performing at his best, Nurkovic claimed he still left the Chiefs with a great smile on his face.
In the CAF Champions League semi-final first leg victory over Wydad Casablanca in Morocco, Nurkovic emphasized scoring the vital goal—possibly the most crucial of his career.
Amakhosi scored that goal to become the first team from Mzansi to win in Morocco in the Champions League although Arthur Zwane, the current head coach of the Chiefs, was in charge at the time on an interim basis.
That goal was sufficient for Chiefs to get to the Champions League final, but in July of last year, they were defeated by Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly 3-0.
Nurkovic only managed to score once in 15 appearances in all competitions, hence Chiefs made the decision to release him.
Nurkovic told the kosi bay, “Unfortunately, I suffered a lot of ailments. I was satisfied with my performance at Chiefs
“I believe the unfortunate thing was that. But I did so with a full heart and as a better player than when I joined the Chiefs, and that is how a professional athlete should think. When you have a contract, all you need to do is make sure you offer everything you have to the team, and I accomplished that.
I’m currently at Royal AM and I’ll do my best.
While the Serbian striker intends to give his all for Shauwn ‘Ma’ Mkhize’s team as well, he has once again been sidelined by ailments.
Nurkovic, who had been released by Chiefs and joined Royal AM during the off-season, was dealing with an ailment that had already cost him 12 games for the KwaZulu-Natal club across all competitions.
When Royal AM defeated Chiefs in the Macufe Cup on Sunday at Toyota Stadium, he finally got to play his first game for the club.
As Royal AM defeated Amakhosi on penalties to win the Macufe Cup, Nurkovic played for 71 minutes. He demonstrated that he hasn’t, though, by holding and defending the ball up top and bruising Erick Mathoho in a one-on-one when they were both attempting to challenge the ball.
Prior to being substituted, he had two chances to score, but both of his easy saves came from his lack of match sharpness.
The Macufe Cup medal was given to a supporter by Nurkovic, who said, “I’m pleased to be back and happy to have won this trophy.”
I’m glad to be back and glad to have won this trophy, said Nurkovic as he presented a fan with his Macufe Cup medal.
“I felt good to have made it that long. Since it was my first game in a very long time, we agreed with the coaches on the time they would have to remove me from the game. Therefore, it was sufficient, and I’m glad to be back.
