Pitso Mosimane
Former Al Ahly manager Pitso Mosimane has been appointed as head coach for Saudi giants Al Ahli Jeddah, the club revealed on Sunday.
Al Ahly had parted ways with Pitso Mosimane back in June after spending nearly two years in charge of the Cairo giants.
During his 21-month tenure, Mosimane had led the Red Devils to three CAF Champions League finals in a row, winning both the 2020 and 2021 editions of the competition.
He had also guided the team to two consecutive FIFA Club World Cup bronze medals, two CAF Super Cup victories in addition to an Egypt Cup and an Egyptian Super Cup coronations.
However, after the club’s poor run of results in the latter stages of the Egyptian Premier League, Mosimane was under huge pressure from local media with pundits and former players criticising the South African coach.
As a result, the club’s official social media accounts revealed that Mosimane made the decision to step down from his role.
Following a three-month layoff, Mosimane has now found a new home in Saudi Arabian giants Al Ahli Jeddah as he hopes to turn around their form.
Al Ahli Jeddah were shockingly relegated from the Saudi Pro League for the first time in the club’s history after finishing 15th with just 32 points.
They also had a poor start to their Yelo League campaign this season as they lie seventh in the standings with just eight points after five games.
