Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has revealed that Njabulo Blom’s exclusion from the team was “a case of competition”.
Blom was left out of Amakhosi’s matchday squad against AmaZulu at FNB Stadium over the weekend, raising more concerns after the player’s contract situation was brought to light.
Blom’s conducted an interview on radio, shedding some light on the matter, as he revealed that the Amakhosi youth product earns less than most of the players who feature in the starting line-up for the club.
Blom was also an unused substitute in the side’s loss to Cape Town City and was not part of the squad that faced Stellenbosch in the MTN8 quarterfinals. Indications are that the player is unsettled at Chiefs due to his contract negotiations believed to have reached a deadlock.
Zwane, though, said Blom’s exclusion had to do with competition, but he expects the player to make a return to the team in the near future.
“It’s a case of competition. We know Njabulo is good player. We know that he is going to come back at any given time. He is hard worker by nature.
It’s a case (of) Solly (Solomons) doing very well and also giving other players who are doing well (a chance), creating that competition within the squad.
So, very soon, he is going to come back,” Zwane told media after the goalless draw with Usuthu.
