With just over two weeks to go before the local transfer window slams shut, Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has commented on whether the club will be looking to further bolster their squad.
Six games in and Chiefs fans have had a glimpse of seven of Chiefs’ eight new signings, with Edmilson Dove, who recently had his work permit granted, is the only new addition yet to feature.
Results have not particularly gone Chiefs’ way in their opening six fixtures.
Amakhosi have tasted defeat on three occasions, while they have won two matches and drew one, which has seen the team accumulate seven points as they sit in 12th place on the DStv Premiership standings.
With the transfer window only closing on 22 September, Zwane says the idea of bringing new faces on board will only serve as a distraction to what the club is currently building.
“We are working on forming combinations with the players we have now, so talk of bringing in new players interferes with that.
The next window is only a few months away so I think that will give us time to see where we need to beef up, but in the meantime, we have enough cover in all positions,” Zwane said via the club’s official website.
Of Chiefs’ new signings, Zitha Kwinika, Siyethemba Sithebe, Dillan Solomons and Yusuf Maart have all had an immediate impact.
Kwinika, in particular, has been outstanding for Zwane’s side and it comes as very little surprise that he has featured in all the games this season, playing the most minutes of all Chiefs players.
Ashley Du Preez has been effective from a goalscoring point of view whenever he has been available, although injury has halted his impressive start to life at Naturena.
