The Glamour Boys are having a poor domestic season, having fallen to 10th place on Tuesday, and Velile Mnyandu has heard that Gavin Hunt could be replaced by Baxter by Chiefs management.
Amakhosi are just five points above the relegation play-off spot with four games remaining, and they must avoid being drawn into the relegation battle. The only real highlight of Gavin Hunt’s first season at the club was a fantastic run in the CAF Champions League, which saw them qualify for the group stages and quarter-finals for the first time in the competition’s history.
While some may argue that Hunt should be given his own players and more time after the club was unable to sign any players before the 2020/21 season due to their transfer ban, this publication understands that Naturena’s management has had enough.
As a result, Hunt could be replaced by Stuart Baxter, a former Amakhosi coach, by the end of the season. During his previous stint at the club between 2012 and 2015, the 67-year-old was the last Chiefs coach to win a trophy, winning two league trophies and two knockout titles.
