Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has questioned Orlando Pirates star Thembinkosi Lorch’s shoulder injury which has seen him sidelined for the remainder of the year.
The 28-year-old has not featured for the Buccaneers this season since the Carling Black Label Cup in early August – and according to co-coach Fadlu Davids will not be seen in action until 2022.
In early September, The KosiBay website reported that Lorch has suffered a “freak injury” while at home.
It’s now clear from Broos’ latest comment what transpired.
Broos was quoted as saying: “I don’t understand Lorch’s injury, I never seen this in my 45 years of coaching a dislocated shoulder while showering but the same player post happy pictures on Instagram daily.”
Broos may have exaggerated the “daily” part as according to his Instagram account, Lorch has only posted once this month, although his ‘stories’ have been more frequent.
Thembinkosi Lorch has played 125 matches in all competitions for Orlando Pirates to date.
