Before joining PSG in the latest transfer window, it seemed unlikely for many that Messi would leave Barca after already spending more than two decades with the Catalan club.
However, following the Blaugrana’s much-publicised financial troubles, the Argentine left the Camp Nou as his expired contract could not be renewed due to the club’s failure to meet LaLiga’s salary cap regulations, among other reported issues.
PSG acted swiftly and snapped up the six-time Ballon d’Or winner, who now forms part of a star-studded front three alongside Brazil talisman Neymar and French sensation Kylian Mbappe.
The Argentina skipper has not enjoyed a prolific start to life in Paris, though, as he has only scored once in five appearances across all competitions and has also suffered a minor injury, but he has now insisted he has no regrets about making the move to France.
“I didn’t make a mistake in going to PSG,” the 34-year-old is quoted as saying in a preview for an exclusive interview with France Football magazine, per Marca.
His much-anticipated debut goal for Les Parisiens came against his former boss Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in PSG’s 2-0 home win over the English champions in the UEFA Champions League last week, while his team also remain top of Ligue 1 despite their shock loss to Rennes last weekend.
