Orlando Pirates midfielder Goodman Mosele shocked the South African football fraternity Monday when it was revealed he had absconded and snubbed his Bafana Bafana call up.
Broos had handed Mosele his first call up to the Bafana Bafana squad, but the midfielder did not arrive at the national team camp where the rest of squad has assembled.
MOSELE NOT PART OF THE CURRENT GROUP AFTER GOING AWOL
Mosele was not with the Bafana Bafana squad which is currently in camp preparing for back-to-back 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia, with the first of the two legs scheduled to take place in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa on October 9, before both teams come to South Africa for Broos’ side’s home leg which is set to take place at the FNB Stadium on 12 October.
Mosele had been rewarded by Broos with a national team call up at the back of his impressive form for his new club side Orlando Pirates, who he recently joined from fellow DStv Premiership club Baroka FC. However, when he did not honour that call up, Broos did not take kindly to the snub, in forming the media about the player’s sudden unavailability and how it had left him in the dark.
BROOS MADE HIS FEELINGS KNOWN AS HE NAMED REPLACEMENT
Upon naming his replacement for Mosele in the national squad, Broos then made his feelings known about the situation.
Sadly Goodman has absconded, we have tried reaching him to no avail and this is extremely disappointing. We are very happy that Jesse Donn has heeded the call (to Bafana Bafana squad) and reported for duty almost immediately,” said Broos.
Now around 24 hours later, there has finally been an update on the reasons why Mosele had not arrived at the Bafana Bafana camp. Sabc Sport journalist Thabiso Mosia has revealed :

“UPDATE : Goodman has been found. Apparently the boy suffered an anxiety attack, due to long standing confidence issues..Maybe the club/SAFA will release an official statement later. Mosele had actually tested for Covid and was preparing to go into camp when the attack happened.”
