Swallows Fc Is In Deep Crisis

The crisis at Swallows has been laid bare after a series of disastrous results in the absence of head coach Brandon Truter.

Swallows’ crisis has deepened in the last three games that they have played without Truter who has been on special leave.

Seven goals conceded and none scored in the last three matches overseen by Simo Dladla have laid bare that the difficulties facing Swallows are evidently not on Truter.

Minus Truter, Swallows have gone from bad to worse as was evidenced by just how they crumbled at home to Cape Town City in the second leg of the MTN8 when they lost 4-0 at home.

When Truter has been on the bench since taking over at Swallows two years ago, they have never conceded four goals in one match.

So bad is the situation at Swallows right now that they have not scored in seven games and through that time, they have conceded 11, seven of which came in the last two games when Dladla was in charge.

In six league games, Swallows have scored just once courtesy of Mbulelo Wambi who struck the winner against Royal AM six weeks ago as they got the league campaign underway.

That has been the only win that Swallows have recorded and it is not surprising that they have sunk as low as fourteenth on the standings.

Meanwhile, according to what the club had promised, Truter is expected back at work this week to prepare for the next game which is against Stellenbosch on the weekend after the FIFA calendar weekend.

Truter was asked to go on special leave by the club after the defeat to SuperSport United two weeks ago with friction having already been simmering between the coach and some members of the club.

However, considering the South African context there has been no guarantee that Truter’s job remains safe considering how applications and enquiries have been flooding in.

Swallows have now won just four games, lost six and drawn 20 from their last 30 games.

For now, the bosses at Swallows will have to accept that the decision to place Truter on leave has backfired as the club is now worse off.
