The club president of UAE Gulf League outfit Al Wahda has commented on rumours that his club has made a R74.5m approach for Al Ahly head coach, Pitso Mosimane.

Talk surrounding the future of Mosimane has been heating up with the coach entering the last year of his contract with the Red Eagles, having joined the club on a two-year deal from Mamelodi Sundowns in October last year.

Mosimane was believed to be closing in on a new deal with the Egyptian giants, however, unsatisfactory performances in the league and the Egyptian Super Cup is believed to have put talks of a new deal on hold.

It is understood that a number of clubs and countries are keeping an eye on the 57-year-old’s situation.

The latest reports coming out of Egypt revealed that the UAE-based outfit was keen on the three-time CAF Champions League winner, with indications that a bumper offer in the region of $5m ( ±R74.5m) was tabled for Jingles.

It is believed that the offer is three times more than what Mosimane currently earns at Al Ahly.

However, club President Rashed Al Zaabi has dismissed the rumors, labelling them as laughable.

“The rumors about negotiations with Mosimane are completely fake, we trust our technical staff and we are not looking for replacements. Pitso Mosimane is Al Ahly head coach, we wish success to both the coach and the club, but we haven’t contacted them,” he was quoted as per KingFut.

“I encourage people not to listen to agents, these are laughable rumors, we have full respect for Al Ahly, and if we plan to do business with them, we will contact the club directly,” he added.
