Orlando Pirates has had an inconsistent season in the DStv sponsored Premier Soccer League, the rate at which Orlando Pirates have been playing has been something that some football pundits have found themselves confused about when they think that they will lose, the Buccaneers would come out of the match as victors. Their rate of winning and losing has been unpredictable and I am sure that those who have been betting on or against Orlando Pirates have found themselves being frustrated by the Buccaneers.

The good thing, however, the 2020/21 football season, started in a joyous mode for Orlando Pirates supporters as they managed to find themselves as the MTN 8 Champions, after years of drought. A team of Orlando Pirates stature is and has to be associated with a championship title as they are expected to win championship titles.

When the 2020/21 season started the Orlando Pirates football universe found themselves in a shocking state as most of their favorite players saw an exit door, and this has been something that has been unsettling to them as they have favored this player and they hoped to see them contributing to the Orlando Pirates success.

The players that I am referring to are the Zambian duo, Justin Shonga, and Augustine Mulenga, Shonga was shockingly moved to TTM, and then Mulenga found himself resurfacing in the AmaZulu camp, and the third player in this mix is Luvuyo Memela who left on his own after he decided against renewing his contract with the Buccaneers, just like Mulenga, Memela joined AmaZulu. It is highly likely that Memela joined AmaZulu with the hope of gaining more game time as there was too much competition in Orlando.

Looking at the current squad of Orlando Pirates, the players who are likely going to face an exit door or a possible loan move are: Abel Mabaso, Mabaso has been with the Buccaneers since 2017/18 season after being signed from Chippa United, he was featured last season under Zinnbauer, but currently the player has rarely seen himself being featured. Another player is Thabiso Sesane who has been promoted from Orlando Pirates development, however, I don’t think an exit door is imminent for the 20-year-old, he may be loaned to another team.

Another youngster that may be loaned out could be the 18-year-old player who is rumored to be favored by Josef Zinnbauer, Azola Tshobeni. A player that most Buccaneers have been asking themselves with is Austin Muwowo, in my view, he is to face an exit door as he has very less game time.
