Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane has reportedly rejected his R280 000 fine that was handed down by the club’s president Mahmoud El Khatib after their Egyptian Super Cup loss on Tuesday.
The South African website reported on Wednesday that Mosimane, along with his technical team and players, were all hit with fines after they lost 3-2 on penalties to El-Gaish.
according to Moroccan website Mfmsport 56-year-old ‘Jingles’ hasn’t taken kindly to what he perceives as ‘an exaggerated’ punishment and has rejected the fine!
Pitso Mosimane has reportedly notified club president Mahmoud El Khatib of his decision to do so.
In addition, the website also reported that a ‘severe crisis’ has erupted between the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach and the man known as ‘Bibo’ in footballing circles.
Pressure has been building on Mosimane despite Al Ahly successfully defending their CAF Champions League title with a 3-0 win against Kaizer Chiefs in last season’s final.
Al Ahly weren’t able to retain their Egyptian Premier League title, losing to bitter rivals Zamalek which no doubt did not sit well with management.
This latest setback in the Egyptian Super Cup will have given Pitso Mosimane’s detractors further ammunition.
Al Ahly will next be in action on Saturday, 25 September against ENPPI in a Round of 16 Egypt Cup clash at 19:00 SA time.
