Kaizer Chiefs’ rivals are believed to be watching closely what happens to one of their star players understood to now be in his final season.

Reeve Frosler has not seen much game time so far in this campaign under coach Stuart Baxter – the timing couldn’t be worse for Amakhosi given the right back could very well be a free agent come June 30 next year.

He is the second player KosiBay  has been informed there are doubts over his future after it was reported that midfielder Kearyn Baccus is concerned over his lack of game time.

Frosler and Baccus were confirmed by the club to have put pen to paper on contracts that will expire in June 2022.

in the past reported that Baccus was initially homesick at the start of the global Coronavirus pandemic and linked with a move back to Australia, his teammate Frosler had been on the European and MLS radar.

The 23-year-old utility defender was part of the Olympic Games squad in Tokyo two months ago, featuring in all three games for South Africa against hosts Japan, France and Mexico on the back of Chiefs’ appearance in the final of the CAF Champions League.

But, rather surprisingly, Frosler hasn’t played a single minute for Amakhosi in the DStv Premiership as his only role so far was a brief cameo in the MTN8 quarterfinal defeat away to Mamelodi Sundowns on August 15.

His numbers from last season were impressive and suggest he was clearly an integral part of the squad under Gavin Hunt, who had previously worked with Frosler at Bidvest Wits, with a total 34 matches from all competitions at the time.

It now remains to be seen what the future holds for the player, with the clock ticking because according to FIFA rules Frosler can sign a pre-contract elsewhere in January!
