Kaizer Chiefs head coach Stuart Baxter says Bafana Bafana’s win against Ghana will make work going forward a lot easier for Hugo Broos and his technical team.

Baxter, who coached the national team in two previous stints, says the World Cup qualifier win is a positive for the nation, and will be a great foundation for Broos to work from.

The Chiefs coach was responding to a question from a close source writer Rob Delport during a presser ahead of their DStv Premiership match against Mamelodi Sundowns this weekend.

Baxter says that speaking from experience, it’s a lot easier to make progress on the back of a win, than after a loss.

“I think we’re all aware of the fact that you get little time to work with the players and what time you get you need some sorts of receipt that you’re on the right track,” Baxter answered in the press conference.

“It’s very difficult sometimes to know exactly that you’re on the right track as a coach and certain things happen to give you that extra momentum to keep on going the same way.

“So, yes, I think it’s a positive thing that we got the win against Ghana. The coaches will now look at what they did, and they’ll look at what they can improve, and they will take that forward.

“And I can guarantee you, as a former Bafana coach, that is a lot easier than working after a defeat.

“In the maelstrom of criticism from the 52 million expert coaches in this country, it’s a lot more difficult if you’ve lost.

“So I’m pleased for the coaching staff, the coaches of the national team, that they got the results, and they can carry on work in a positive atmosphere.”
