There’s an alleged discord between the Mamelodi Sundowns trio of coaches, our reliable sources have been led to believe.
Despite winning the inaugural DStv Premiership championship last season in the first year of the new-look technical staff structure, Manqoba Mngqithi, Rulani Mokwena, and Steve Komphela aren’t on the same page, according to credible sources.
Following the surprise departure of Pitso Mosimane to Al Ahly over a year ago, Sundowns appointed his two assistants – Mngqithi and Mokwena – as co-coaches, with Komphela later brought in as senior coach and reporting to the duo.
In a club statement at the time, then-president Patrice Motsepe stated that Mngqithi would have the ultimate say in cases where there is no consensus.
Our sources have learned that there are now splits among the trio, which is unsurprising considering that no three coaches can ever be totally in accord all of the time.
