Juventus have confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo will leave the club ahead of his imminent surprise move to Manchester City.
The 36-year-old is understood to have pushed for a move and already said his goodbye to his teammates.
Juve and City still need to agree to a deal, but coach Massimiliano Allegri has confirmed Ronaldo’s departure in a press conference.
“Yesterday, Cristiano told me that he no longer has any intention to play for Juventus. For this reason he will not be called up for tomorrow’s game,” Allegri said, as per the club’s social media account.
“I am not disappointed with the departure of Ronaldo. Cristiano made his choice. There have been great champions here like Del Piero, Zidane, Buffon but we move on.
“Ronaldo made his contribution, he made himself available, now he goes away, and life goes on.”
Manchester City have reportedly offered Ronaldo a two-year contract but they still need to agree to a fee or swap players with Juventus.
Ronaldo made 134 appearances for Juventus, scoring 101 goals and assisting in another 22. He lifted five trophies during three years at the Allianz Arena.
