Bafana Bafana boss Hugo Broos has confirmed Percy Tau’s pending move to Egyptian giants Al Ahly.
Broos announced his 23-man squad for next month’s 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday afternoon and included Percy Tau in his selection although not getting game time at Brighton & Hove Albion.
Tau hasn’t made a feature in the Premier League this season and they has been rumours about a move to Al Ahly, who are managed by his former coach Pitso Mosimane.
Broos admitted that he was touched by Tau’s situation but hinted that everything could change in the coming days.
“He is an important player for Bafana Bafana ,If Percy does not play in the next months, I have a problem.
“But I heard some good news, I think he will not stay at Brighton and he will go to the Egyptian team with the South African coach, Pitso, Al Ahly. I think in the next days it will be done and then he will have a chance to play, so there will be less of a problem for the future.”
He admitted that he for Tau to part ways with Brighton in order so that he can return to football on the African continent.
“I hope he can leave Brighton and he can go to a club, they speak about Egypt with Pitso who’s in Al Ahly,” “It should be a very good thing for them because there’s someone who knows him.”Hugo Broos said last week Thursday.
