Hugo Broos, the coach of Bafana Bafana, has revealed why he chose to leave Kaizer Chiefs defender Njabulo Ngcobo out of his final team for the forthcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The reigning DStv Premiership Player of the Season was included to the first 31-man team but was not selected in Broos’ final roster for the qualifiers against Zimbabwe and Ghana.
Broos said that Ngcobo’s cut had nothing to do with his ability, but he chose other names this time.
“I’m not saying that he will not be there the next time. I have to choose, we had 31 players the first time and I have to choose,” he said on SABC Sport.
“Sometimes it is a tactical decision, other times it is a decision that you require a specific sort of defender, and that is what occurred with Ngcobo.
“But again, I know he is a good defender and he will get his chance with Bafana in the next month.
