Khama Billiat‘s struggles since his second season with Kaizer Chiefs are well-documented but the Warriors talisman can still be proud.
Sunday, Billiat scored a bullet as Chiefs rallied to hold Mamelodi Sundowns 2-2 after extra time in the MTN8.
Kaizer Chiefs went on to lose the quarter-final match 2-1 on penalties, and Sundowns had Kennedy Mweene to thank for his brilliant performance in between the sticks.
Now, for Khama Billiat, the goal against his former club saw him move to 90 goals across all competitions since his arrival in the PSL over a decade ago.
He is one goal shy of equalling countryman Wilfred Mugeyi (91) in the all-time goalscoring charts of the PSL.
But apart from that, Billiat remains the all-time leading goalscorer with 90 strikes in the PSL among the active players.
Kahama Billiat’s 90 goals are split among the three teams he has played for in the PSL – Ajax Cape Town, Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs.
The 30-year-old attacker needs at least 33 more goals to equal Siyabonga Nomvethe’s record tally of 123 in the PSL.
Khama Billiat, however, will need to ensure that he doesn’t put his foot off the pedal as there are currently two active players closely behind him.
And they are Lehlohonolo Majoro of AmaZulu and SuperSport United striker Bradley Grobler who are both on 88 goals.
