Kaizer Chiefs head coach Stuart Baxter has heaped praise on new signing Keagan Dolly, who made his debut for the club on Sunday.
Dolly came on as a second half substitute in Amakhosi’s 2-1 penalty shootout loss to former club Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8.
And while Dolly made an immediate impact by providing an assist for Khama Billiat, Baxter said the left-footer is still not in the shape that he wants.
“Keagan has been excellent in training in short bursts. Keagan has not played in games in a while, and he is not in the shape that he wants to be in to be able to give his best,” Baxter told reporters.
“But, Keagan being a very good player, means that he is seeing things quickly and his passing is good and the ball is good,” he said.
Baxter said he wanted to give Dolly at least 30 minutes as he introduced him after 60 minutes but the winger would get an hour under his belt as the game went into extra time.
The 67-year-old feels Dolly will be a massive addition to Chiefs once he’s back to his full fitness after having not played competitive football in months.
“We wanted to give him half an hour today but he went on to get a little bit more than that, but I think Keagan, as soon he gets his match tempo, his match weight and more time under his belt then Keagan is going to be a great addition to Kaizer Chiefs,” concluded Baxter.
