Romelu Lukaku’s future has been uncertain for a while and the latest reports from various media outlets suggest that Chelsea has shifted their focus towards the Belgian striker as their priority after failing to make grounds meet for Erling Haaland after primitive discussions with Borussia Dortmund via his agent, Mino Raiola. Inter have received an approach from Chelsea for Romelu Lukaku. Bid around €100m including Marcos Alonso as part of the negotiation.

Now, coming to the area where United might benefit, reports from 2019 confirm that Romelu Lukaku’s sale was concluded on deadline day for a total price of £73.9 m(£64.7m with a further £9.2m payable in add ons) after going through an intense negotiation with Inter. United was forced to agree to this fee for an amount less than what they expected after Lukaku went AWOL and communicated his intention to try a new challenge during United’s 2019 pre-season. United wanted close to £80m.

United could gain some advantage like how Manchester City did from the sale of Jadon Sancho by BVB. Manchester City managed to make around £60m from sell-on clauses and solidarity payments from their former academy players.
