The Amakhosi manager Stuart Baxter won the South African Premier League in 2013 and 2015, as well as the Nedbank Cup in 2013 and the MTN8 in 2014.
The team has not won a major title since his departure, but they came within one victory of doing so last season in the final of the CAF Champions League.
Stuart Baxter, the former Bafana Bafana coach, has asked for patience as he returns to Kaizer Chiefs after taking over from Gavin Hunt.
According to the Sowetan, he stated, “As a coach, you have to be extremely careful making hot air sort of promises merely to stir up excitement.”
“Kaizer Chiefs have not won anything for a long time. They have gotten close‚ but they’ve not won anything. When I first came it was the same sort of situation.
“Today, when I was here previously, I didn’t guarantee that I would win something in the first year, and I won’t promise that now. Because those kinds of overly optimistic predictions create pressure on the players who have to go out and deliver on them.
“However, I will assure them [the supporters] that the work we perform here at Naturena will prepare these troops for combat. And when we go into combat, I’ll guarantee them that we’re not going to sell ourselves cheaply.
“That is a commitment I shall make to them. Now ideally that will lead to outcomes confidence in the group believe in what we’re doing and that will drive better results and then we will kick on and start to bring some pride to the supporters pride to the players,” Stuart Baxter said.
Kaizer Chiefs will open their 2021/22 season against arch-rivals Orlando Pirates in Sunday’s Carling Black Label Cup at the Orlando Stadium.
