Teboho Moloi, the coach of Linare FC, has reacted after coaches in Lesotho allegedly questioned his coaching qualifications, preventing him from sitting on the bench for up to three matches while the problem was settled.

After investigating the matter, the Lesotho Football Association told the Linare FC coach that he meets all the requirements to coach in the Premier League. Moloi holds a German International Coaching Certificate, which according to Moloi, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) said it’s equivalent to a CAF A License.

“In Lesotho, you need at least a CAF B License to sit on the bench and from next season it will be a CAF A,” Moloi tells the Siya crew.

“Results came back that I am short of 220 hours to serve and study to qualify for a CAF Pro License, which I am not going to do because I don’t think some of us will ever coach in our country (South Africa), especially with this recycling of coaches. So why must I go do those hours and sit and not have a job at home?

“I was excited that CAF looked at my hours in the certificate and said I belong to CAF A class, just short of a few hours for CAF Pro License. Only when the team started to get its rhythm, they questioned my qualifications. I always knew I have gold with this German certificate.”

Football is now banned in Lesotho owing to an increase in COVID-19 numbers, but Moloi’s team is in sixth position in the standings after 15 games.
