Willard Katsande is a Zimbabwean professional footballer, who currently plays as a midfielder for Premier Soccer League club Kaizer Chiefs and for the Zimbabwe national team.
According to the Siya crew, Chiefs informed the veteran that he would not be retained beyond the expiration of his short-term contract, which qualified him for the CAF Champions League, bringing an end to more than a decade of service to Amakhosi.

Willard Katsande known for his no-nonsense approach in the heart of midfield, has been an integral part of Kaizer Chiefs’ success in recent years. Amakhosi snatched the services of the midfielder from Ajax Cape Town with former assistant coach, Ace Khuse boasting, “there is something special there”. He has been making waves in the Zimbabwean national team having helped The Warriors to qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
His contract ends on July 30.
But the vastly experienced campaigner, who has proved that he still has gas in his tank, has already managed to attract the interest of AmaZulu, who are understood to be keen on luring the Zimbabwean to KZN.

According to well-placed sources, Usuthu have identified the 35-year-old as the perfect candidate to plug the gaping hole in their defensive midfield, with the club looking to challenge for both the DStv Premiership and the CAF Champions League in the upcoming season.
Benni McCarthy’s side has been strengthening their squad that finished in second place behind champions Mamelodi Sundowns last season, roping in the duo of Keagan Buchanan and Mxolisi Kunene and have now turned their attention to the hard-tackling midfielder.
Usuthu has a plethora of experience in their ranks, with the likes of Siphiwe Tshabalala, Tsepo Masilela, Siphelele Mthembu, and Lehlohonolo Majoro all on the books, and it’s unclear whether Katsande will rejoin with his former Chiefs teammates in the near future.
