Kaizer Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic’s agent has revealed that his client encouraged new Mamelodi Sundowns striker Pavol Safranko to come to South Africa to play.
The well-traveled marksman studied the Amakhosi player’s progress at the Soweto giants before opting to join Masandawana.
The 26-year-old Slovakia international recently signed a five-year contract with the current PSL winners. It happens after a two-year stint with Romanian club Sepsi OSK.
Before joining Sundowns. Safranko scored 17 goals in 68 games for Romanian Liga 1 and helped the team qualify for the Uefa Conference League.

Nurkovic’s advisor, Dajan Simac. He claimed that the Serbian marksman spoke with Safranko, who has played in Slovakia, Denmark, Scotland, and Romania.
“First and foremost, Safranko was not cheap [according to various sources, Sundowns paid about R12 million for the Slovak],” Simac told Sowetan.
“They [Nurkovic and Safranko] talked. “Safranko was impressed by what he witnessed in South Africa.”
Since joining Chiefs from Slovakian club KFC Komarno in July 2019. Nurkovic has established himself as one of the finest attackers in South Africa.
“He [Safranko] first heard about Samir on the internet, and they became friends, and Samir urged him to come since South Africa is a wonderful nation and the PSL is a fantastic league,” said Safranko “Simac went on.
“Seeing Samir succeed for Chiefs made it easier for Pavol to understand that he, too, could come and see how things went for him.”

Nurkovic and Safranko were both playing in Slovakia in 2017. The Sundowns player on the books of Dunajska Streda and the Amakhosi star on the books of Vion Zlate Moravce.
Simac, a German-born Croatian agent, went on to say that he is working on bringing another European player to the PSL during the current transfer window.
“I’m focusing on expanding my network in South Africa. In the current transfer window, I am close to bringing in another European,” he stated.
Simac is not Safranko’s agent. He is a former defender who previously played for Croatia’s under-20 national team.
