Sipho Mbule’s agent Mike Makaab has lashed out at reports that suggest he has indicated Kaizer Chiefs have tabled an offer for the SuperSport United midfielder.

Makaab confirmed that Kaizer Chiefs have expressed interest in his client but he was eager to draw the distinction between interest and a formal offer.

Agent lashes press over Kaizer Chiefs rumour

Maakab took to Twitter to refute a news report from KickOff on Wednesday night.

“Let me set the record straight. Not once have I said that Kaizer Chiefs tabled an offer for Mbule,” Makaab wrote.

“There is a massive difference between interest and officially tabling an offer. Report responsibly.”

SuperSport United’s Mbule remains in demand

Mbule has attracted interest from all of South Africa’s big clubs but SuperSport United CEO Stan Matthews would prefer to sell star players to club’s abroad.

Matthews stated unequivocally that Mbule is not for sale, in responding to the original report claiming Kaizer Chiefs had tabled an offer for the player.

“Kaizer Chiefs have not tabled an offer for him and even if they did, he is not for sale to any club at all this season,” Matthews told KickOff.

“I can’t comment on what his agent is quoted saying.

“I spoke to his agent this morning and the words “offer from Chiefs” never came up.

“You will have to ask him because all I told him was that Sipho is not for sale to any club until he shines again for SuperSport United.

“Let his performances do the talking instead of his agent.”

SuperSport United have accepted an offer for Teboho Mokoena from Mamelodi Sundowns, which means they will not want to sell another key midfielder.

The club have every chance to push for continental football next season in both the league and the Nedbank Cup.

SuperSport United restart their season in the Nedbank Cup against Maritzburg United.
