In 2019 he was part of the team that qualified for the Fifa Under-20 World Cup in Poland after finishing second in their group at the Africa Youth Championship in Niger.

It has been a rapid rise to the top for the future superstar, who was promoted to the Mamelodi Sundowns senior side last season after impressing in the Diski Challenge team for a couple of seasons.

Manqoba Mngqithi like Pitso Mosimane has tipped Mkhuma to become the next big thing in South African football.

“Mkhuma is a boy that has got a very bright future, who works very hard, which is why we have been playing him regularly,” said Mngqithi.

“And many people complain why Promise and not that player, but our bias is more on players that give their heart out to the team.”

There aren’t many young players who can claim to have won a treble – the Premiership title, Nedbank Cup and Telkom Knockout in their debut season in the professional ranks. Promise Mkhuma did that in 2020.
