Njabulo Ngcobo made Kaizer Chiefs supporters ecstatic when he was revealed as the latest member to their rebuilding team.
However, Phakaaathi has learnt that the 27-year-management old’s team was enticed by a lucrative offer from Holland shortly after he joined.
A source close to the players’ manager has revealed that a team from the Netherlands has asked about his availability and made a mouth-watering offer in the process.
“I had to sneak a peek at their letter. The manager’s mind is whirling because he can tell it’s a fantastic offer, but he also doesn’t want the player distracted right now. I couldn’t obtain the team’s name… but it’s from the Netherlands,” added the insider.
“The Netherlands is a fantastic window for large European leagues, and the offer can only be enticing because of that,” the insider explained.
Siboniso “King” Ngubane, Ngcobo’s manager, informed Phakaaathi that he cannot confirm or refute the latest developments.
“I can’t say there isn’t, but I also can’t say there isn’t. But, if that were to happen, we would undoubtedly transfer that club to Kaizer Chiefs. Ngcobo is under contract with Kaizer Chiefs, and it is up to them whether or not to accept such an offer.
“My role will be to come in if the teams agree, to guarantee the demands and requirements of the players are addressed as well. But, for the time being, I cannot tell whether or not such an offer exists,” he stated.
Ngcobo has joined Chiefs among a slew of other players as Amakhosi re-enter the transfer market after serving a two-window Fifa transfer suspension that prevented them from making any new acquisitions for the 2020/21 season.
Ngcobo is coming off an outstanding season at Swallows FC, where he was crowned DStv Premiership Defender of the Season.
