Chiefs have been linked with a host of players as they look to rebuild the squad under the leadership of head coach Arthur Zwane. It’s been recently reported that Bafana Bafana attacker Pule Mmodi is one of the latest to join their target list, although Golden Arrows do have the option of triggering a one-year extension on his contract.

If Arrows are keen on selling the player, it will remain to be seen what valuation is placed on the playmaker, and whether that dissuades Chiefs at all.

However, the club has remained mum on the subject, at least for now.

“Until the club releases a statement, they remain Golden Arrows players,” club boss Mat Madlala told Kickoff earlier this month.

According to some reports, insiders have apparently revealed that both parties have met, and that key negotiations are set to continue in earnest, with Chiefs believed to be ready to meet the demands of Arrows.

In an update provided by FARPost on Thursday, it’s been stated that “Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be preparing an improved offer” for Mmodi, while adding that “Arrows are willing to sell the player if the right offer comes”.

MMODI UPDATE!!!

Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be preparing an improved offer for Golden Arrows midfielder Pule Mmodi. Arrows are willing to sell the player if the right offer comes.

AmaZulu have since pulled out of the race to sign Mmodi after the acquisition of Ethan Brooks.

Interestingly, Mmodi recently opened up about the links to Chiefs in an exclusive interview with iDiski Times.

“I’ve just read things in the newspapers, saying I’ve signed with Chiefs and all this stuff but you know how it can be. I’ve not had any contact with anyone, I still need to make a decision about me moving to the next team after meeting with the Chairlady.

“Kaizer Chiefs… I never supported them growing up, I never supported any team but I’m attracted to Chiefs as it’s a good team for me. I can be one of them [as part of the rebuild],” he said.

IT REMAINS TO BE SEEN IF MMODI WILL BE PART OF THE CHIEFS’ REBUILT SQUAD

With preparations for the 2022/23 season already in full swing, Chiefs have added five more players to the squad, with the arrival of Dillan Solomons, Kamohelo Mahlatsi and Lehlogonolo George Matlou from Swallows FC, Siyethemba Sithebe from AmaZulu, and the official promotion of Mduduzi Shabalala from the Chiefs Reserve side set to bolster the Glamour Boys’ quest for glory.

The new season is set to start on Saturday, 6 August with the MTN8, while the DStv Premiership is set to kick off off on Friday, 12 August.

The GladAfrica Championship season will start the weekend thereafter on Saturday, August 20.

Having already secured the services of Ashley Du Preez and Zitha Kwinika for the next three years earlier this month, Chiefs management and the technical team have been hard at work to try and acquire the right players to fit into the system that will hopefully bring DStv Premiership success in the coming season.

In addition, on Tuesday night it was confirmed that Kaizer Chiefs have signed Yusuf Maart on a three-year deal with a two-year option.

Many believe this has been Chiefs’ best ‘transfer window’ for quite some time, and there are talks that there could still be one or two more signings secured by Amakhosi before next season.
